- rmdir d Remove directory d
- mv f1 [f2...] d Move file f to directory d
- mv d1 d2 Rename directory d1 as d2
- ls ~~- lists your files in directory
- ls -l ~~- lists your files in 'long format'in details, permissions
- ls -a ~~- lists all files, including the ones whose filenames begin in a dot and are invisible
- cd directory name
- cd .. moves up a level
- cd d Change to directory d
- cat f List contents of file
- more f List file contents by screen
- cat f1 f2 >f3 Concatenates f1 & f2 into f3
- chmod mode f Change protection mode of f
- chmod 644 file name Change protection mode of file so it can be read
- chmod 755 directory name Change protection mode of directory so it can be opened
- mv f1 f2 Rename file f1 as f2
- cp filename1 filename2 ~~- copies a file
- pwd print working directory, tells you where you are
- rm f Delete (remove) file f
